Here is some infomation on the City of Stanton’s first ever Art Exhibit that is being held at the Stanton Central Park on May 22. . It would be wonderful if you wanted to participate or you knew of someone else who would like to participate.. I would love it if you could pass this on to anyone who is a budding artist, photographer, potter, quilter or anyone who loves art.
Please pass this on to any students/adults you know. You do not have to live in the City of Stanton.
Call for Artists: The World in Our Backyard
The City of Stanton is proud to announce that on Saturday, May 22, 2021, our first Art Exhibit will take place at Stanton Central Park, 10660 Western Ave. Stanton CA 90680 from 10 am to 4 pm. The theme of the Art Exhibit is “The World in Our Backyard”. It will feature art pieces submitted by high school students, college students, and other members of the community. These works of art should encapsulate the tapestry of people from different walks of life whose cultures, beliefs, values, and traditions make our community a richer, stronger, more inclusive place.
We are inviting your students to participate in this wonderful opportunity. All pieces submitted will be displayed for community viewing during the Art Exhibit. First, second, and third place winners will be chosen by a selected panel of judges with an added award for Crowd favorite selected by attendees at the art exhibit.
Winners will receive a monetary prize (First-$250, Second-$150, Third-$100). Students may submit a visual or written work of art, including but not limited to a drawing, painting, photograph, multimedia piece, essay, short story, or poem which highlights the theme “The World in Our Backyard”.These works of art are meant to be a celebration of the diverse identities, backgrounds, and stories that make up our community.
Each work should be the artists’ unique interpretation of “The World in Our Backyard”. Consider some of the following questions to help get you started:
- What makes you proud to be a part of this community?
- How does the community influence your identity?
- Think about the members of this community – who are they? How do they make the community strong?
- What is integral to this community that often gets overlooked by others? If you had to give a single snapshot of life here, what would that look like?
To participate, complete and submit an application at https://bit.ly/2021StantonArtExhibit by April 22. All completed works of art should be delivered between the hours of 12pm-8 pm Monday through Sunday to the Stanton Central Park office, located at 10660 Western Ave., Stanton, CA 90680. All physical artwork must be received between April 22 to May 13 to be considered. Please contact Ann Nguyen with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org (714) 890-4211.
